      ----------

According to son John Benaiah (Jack) Pamment, the family moved to Victoria due to his mother's (Agnes') poor health (a probable liver ailment) and the need to seek a drier climate. From an email from Pat Hammond, June 8, 2003: The youngest daughter was only 8 when Agnes died. My grandfather (Ernie) and his brother (Reg) did not move to Victoria with the rest of the family. They stayed in Tacoma and rented rooms in the boarding house operated by my great-grandmother (Ernie's future mother-in-law).

From an email dated 8 June 2003, Pat Hammond writes: "Yes, I also have 2 different dates of death for Agnes (Thomas) Pamment. I
used June 16 in my family group sheet because in the copy of her obituary that appears in "The Colonist" on June 18, 1912, it says she died on Sunday, which would have been the 16th. Also, I have a funeral card for her, and it says June 16.

I have the paper from the Ministry of Health that says June 15, but the one I have was prepared for me on June 15, 1984, so I wondered if the person typing it got the current date mixed up with the date of death."

Obituary notice from "The Colonist" June 18, 1912 (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada):

Pamment---Mrs. Agnes Pamment, the wife of Rev. John M. Pamment of 1611 Bank
Street, entered into rest in this city on Sunday, aged 51 years. Beside
her husband she leaves three sons, John B. Pamment, Reginald T. Pamment and
Ernest P. Pamment. She was a native of Lancashire. The funeral will take
place this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the above residence. Rev. Joseph
      McCoy will officiate.

      ----------
      From Pat Hammond:
I have visited Agnes' grave in Ross Bay Cemetery (Victoria) and spoke with the people in the office there. They told me Agnes was buried at 7 1/2 feet, indicating room for another coffin in the same grave. After Agnes died, John moved back to Tacoma. As far as I know, the only family member who stayed in Canada was Agnes (Aggie) the daughter, who married a Canadian.

As far as Reg goes, I could be wrong on the death date. I remember when he died, hearing about it as a child. He left his estate to his siblings, and since my grandfather had already died, my mother was a beneficiary.
