    Mercy Alchin was my great-great grandfather's first wife. Both children died in 1848 and Mercy died in 1850.

    • In calculating the approximate birth date from the age inscribed on Mercy's headstone at death, it would put the birth at November 1812. There is a corresponding baptism to support that birth timeframe.

      The 1850 Mortality Census for Michigan shows a "Mercy Parment" of Ingham County, age 33, as having died in April of consumption. Her birthplace was given as England.

      The "Ingham County Pioneer Families" book by George I. Hammell has family groups for several families, including Pamment. In it there is a group that includes "Mercy Allchin, born c1812, died 26 April 1850 and buried in North Stockbridge Cemetery, married Nathaniel Pamment.
